The Body - The Body (2004)

The Body - The Body (2004)

The Body are a Doom band that originally formed in Arkansas, but they've since relocated to Providence, RI. I'm pretty sure they are Ex-members of Hundred Years War. This is just two guys, a drummer and a guitarist. Just because they're a two piece doesn't mean they don't have volume though, trust me if you've seen them live then you know, they are loud. This was a 7 song album they released in 2004.

Shredded Corpse - Exhumed & Molested (Reissue) + Demos (2003)

Shredded Corpse - Exhumed & Molested (Reissue) + Demos (2003)

Shredded Corpse were a popular death metal band that was around in the 90s. The meat and potatoes behind Shredded Corpse were Rocky Gray(Living Sacrifice, Soul Embraced, Thy Pain, Evanescence, etc) and Dave Sroczynski(Inner War, Soul Embraced, Thy Pain, etc), with a revolving door of musicians filling in other spots. This album originally came out in 1996, but I think this is pretty much this album + all their demos on one album. There's a good 30 tracks on here.

Here's an old 4 Way Anger demo that someone gave me a few years ago. I don't have a tracklisting or anything, but here it is nonetheless. I may be wrong on the year it was released, so feel free to post corrections.

Medea - Demo (2002)

Medea were a short lived Doom band out of Little Rock. They only played a handful of shows, and luckily I got to catch two or three of them. This was a demo they recorded shortly after getting together, thanks to Jermdirt from Seahag for sending this to me. Sorry no track listing.

Econochrist - Discography (1999)

Econochrist - Discography (1999)

I couldn't rightfully do this blog without including arguably the most important punk rock/hardcore band to ever come out of Arkansas, Econochrist. They later relocated to Oakland, CA, where the band really began to take off in the East Bay punk rock scene.

Fallen Empire - Shadows (1999)

Fallen Empire - Shadows (1999)

Fallen Empire are one of the few Black Metal bands to have formed in this area. They have recently reformed the last I was told and should be playing shows sometime soon. This is one of their older albums with an early lineup. They play atmospheric Black Metal similar to that of Emperor or Dissection.

By request from the band, this link has been taken down.

Acid Bath @ Big Weazel's Skate Park - Little Rock, AR (1996)

I was gonna try to get a vhs converter so I could transfer my copy of this show to the computer, but it looks like someone has beat me to the punch and put it on youtube. Sound quality isn't the greatest but its not bad. From what people have told me Copsodomy and Crankbait had opened this show. Unfortunately its missing the first couple of songs, but this is still a great piece of Little Rock metal show history.

Locust Spawning

Tranquilized

Bleed Me An Ocean

Crankbait - Anatomy of Self Abuse (Discography) (2003)

Crankbait - Anatomy of Self Abuse (Discography) (2003)

Crankbait were another band from around here that you always hear people talking about, unfortunately I missed out on these guys since they called it quits in 1997. Luckily they released this discography of all their songs in 2003 and I bought a copy. These guys had no guitar player(for most of the time they were together, a guitarist joined near the end I believe), it was just two bass players and a drummer. Pretty fierce music, check it out.

Soophie Nun Squad have become a somewhat legendary punk rock/party band around here. Every time Soophie played live it was an event, and they were one of the most fun bands you could see around here. I'm not sure if they're still an active band but if they're playing live you'll probably hear about it.

Collapse - Unreleased Demo (2002)

Collapse - Unreleased Demo (2002)

Ok, not too many people have heard this since it was never released or even finished for that matter. I talked either Phil or Kiffin from Collapse into making me a copy of this years back, but had since lost it and Phil was kind enough to provide me with a new copy to post here. This was a rough, live practice recording that they recorded in Rwake's old jam room around 2002, and is the only known recording of the band since their demise. (there's a live video i had seen years ago, but have no idea who I knew that even had it) Bassist Kiffin of course went on to play in Rwake and countless other bands since then, guitarist Phil went on to play in Dead City, Halfacre Gunroom, and American Gods, and drummer Chile Dave moved shortly after their break up to California, where he has went on to play with bands like Sleep Terror and Cattle Decapitation.

Trusty - Goodbye, Dr. Fate (1995)

Here's a classic Trusty album from 1995. This band was originally formed in Arkansas, and they relocated to Washington, D.C. signing to the famous Dischord Records. This was one of the releases put out on Dischord, and arguably their best record. Some of my first metal shows were seeing bands like 3 Guys That Hate You, Rwake, Fallen Empire, Vore, etc. Some truly breakneck stuff here. Burned Up, Bled Dry - Kill The Body, Kill The Soul (1997)

Hardcore, Grind, Power Violence, whatever you want to call them, Burned Up, Bled Dry play some furious punk rock. These guys got back together in 2006 after a long hiatus, not sure on their current status though. This record is a classic Arkansas punk record.
